"A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" Has Been Released

The time we've all been waiting for is finally upon us!  Or at least the time I've been waiting for.  A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has finally been released.  The book contains, for the first time ever, the three Dunk and Egg novellas:  The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight.  A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms contains over 160 all-new illustrations by the amazing Gary Gianni.

You can pick up your copy of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms here.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Gets A Publication Date!

Last week we got the news that there were no plans for Winds of Winter to be published this year.  Now this came as no surprise to most, simply enough there was never any mention of the book coming out this year.  George has always said that when the book is finished he will let us know.

However George has now confirmed the release date for the next piece of work.  A culmination of the three Dunk & Egg novellas, this time collected into a single illustrated book.   Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be published on October 6th 2015.

The book, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, will collect the three Dunk & Egg novellas that have been previously published: The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight.

The book will also be illustrated by Gary Gianni, who has previously worked on the 2014 Ice & Fire calendar.  From the sounds of it the art will be as plentiful as it was in The World of Ice and Fire:

We wanted this to be an illustrated book, so we went to the amazing Gary Gianni and asked him to do some art for us, thinking perhaps we could include seven or eight interior illustrations.  Gary turned us down.  He loved the stories, he said, but he'd only do it if he could illustrate the entire book, with art on virtually every page.

So have you read the Dunk & Egg novellas before?  If so do you plan on picking up this book?  And if this is your first experience with the Dunk & Egg novellas, how excited are you to finally find them more accessible?

Dunk & Egg Update

For those who have finished the A Song of Ice and Fire series and wanted to continue traveling through the wonderfully immense world of Westeros that George has created, you may have found yourself reading the Dunk & Egg novellas.  The three Dunk & Egg novellas that have been released as of now are The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight. The first two of these novellas, The Hedge Knight and The Sworn Sword, have been adapted into graphic novels.  The third, The Mystery Knight, is currently being worked on by Random House, with Ben Avery working on the script and Mike S. Miller doing the artwork.

The Dunk & Egg novellas has no set amount of novellas it will include.  All we know is that it will include as many as is needed to tell the tales of Dunk and Egg.

Is Game of Thrones Going to the Big Screen?

This past week George R.R. Martin had an interview with The Hollywood Reporter wherein George mentioned the idea of Game of Thrones possibly heading for the big screen.  When George was asked about the likeliness of Game of Thrones on the big screen he answered with:

It all depends on how long the main series runs, Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger and bigger (in scope). It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know.
