Behind the Scenes of the Battle at Hardhome

HBO has just released their latest bonus video, this tame taking us behind-the-scenes of the battle at Hardhome from the latest episode of Game of Thrones.  The video has commentary from showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss, the director of the episode Miguel Sapochnik, and also Kit Harington, Kristofer Hivju, Birgitte Hjort Sorenson, Ben Crompton, and several other crew members.

Season 5 New Character & Locations

HBO has just released another behind-the-scenes video, this time talking about the new characters and locations in season 5 of Game of Thrones.  It's a bit odd to get a video talking about the new characters and locations half way through the season.  Nonetheless its still nice to get inside the heads of the creators, and hear their explanations and thoughts on each piece.  And the video shows us a few glimpses of a some scenes we have not seen yet - mainly on the Dornish side.

The video focuses heavily on the new characters in Dorne: Doran Martell, Areo Hotah, and the Sand Snakes.  While also touching on one of the seasons new locations found in Dorne, the Water Gardens.  The video briefly covers the High Sparrow, and the House of Black and White.

What did you think of this new behind-the-scenes video?  And which of these characters or locations are you most excited about seeing more of?

On Location in Croatia

Croatia has been a filming location for Game of Thrones since season 1.  But as the series has grown, so has the level of production for the show.  Game of Thrones has added several new locations from Croatia to their list of filming locations.

This short three minute video takes you behind-the-scenes of some of the locations, new and old, from Croatia.  With commentary from the show runners, production designed, and some of the actors.

Season 5 Set Design

In the second Artisan Piece from HBO, we go behind-the-scenes looking at some of the set designs for season 5 of Game of Thrones.  Production designer Deb Riley takes us behind the scenes and explores how she and her team create the amazing sets we see each season.  This video explores the new sets we'll be seeing this season, that of Dorne and Daznak's Pit in Meereen.

The Weapons of Dorne

We get a new look at the craftsmanship behind the weapons of Dorne.   This video takes us behind-the-scenes, with Weapons Master Tommy Dunne, looking at the weapons for Obara Sand, Nymeria Sand, Tyene Sand, and Areo Hotah.

So whose weapon are you looking forward to see in action this season?  And what do you think of the overall look of these weapons?

Pixomondo Making of Game of Thrones Season 4

One of the coolest things about seeing Game of Thrones as a television show, is seeing the dragons brought to life on screen.  Pixomondo, one of the copies behind the CGI effects that bring Dany's dragons to life has recently released a video showing how tow they have brought these amazing creatures to life in the show.

The video shows several scenes involving the dragons, including the final where Rhaegal and Viserion are being chained up.  I know I always enjoy seeing the process taken to developing these amazing creatures (even though I know I would have no idea how to do it myself).
