Game of Thrones Season 5 Plot Synopses for Episodes 4-8

HBO recently put out a press release giving us a few pieces of new information for season 5 of Game of Thrones.  Not only did we get the plot synopses for the May episodes, but we also got the title for episode 8.

Check out the plot synopses for episode four through eight below:

Episode 4: "Sons of the Harpy"

Written by Dave Hill; Directed by Mark Mylod.

The Faith Militant grow increasingly aggressive. Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Bronn (Jerome Flynn) head south.  Ellaria (Indira Varma) and the Sand Snakes vow vengeance.

Episode 5: "Kill the Boy"

Dany (Emilia Clarke) makes a difficult decision in Meereen.  Jon (Kit Harington) recruits the help of an unexpected ally.  Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) searches for Sansa (Sophie Turner).  Theon (Alfie Allen) remains under Ramsay's (Iwan Rheon) control.

Episode 6: "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken"

Written by Bryan Cogman; Directed by Jeremy Podeswa

Arya (Maisie Williams) trains.  Jorah (Iain Glen) and Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) run into slavers.  Trystane (Toby Sebastian) and Myrcella (Nell Tiger Free) make plans.  Jaime and Bronn reach their destination.  The Sand Snakes attack.

Episode 7: "The Gift"

Written by David Benioff and Dan Weiss; Directed by Miguel Sapochnik

Jon prepares for conflict.  Sansa tries to talk to Theon.  Brienne waits for a sign.  Stannis (Stephen Dillane) remains stubborn.  Jaime attempts to reconnect with family.

Episode 8: "Hardhome"

Written by David Benioff and Dan Weiss; Directed by Miguel Sapochnik

Arya makes progress in her training.  Sansa confronts an old friend.  Cersei (Lena Headey) struggles.  Jon travels.

HBO's plot synopses usually tend to be vague in description, which is a good thing.  But because of that I really don't have much to say about them. As for episodes four through seven, one thing that stuck out to me is the story of Sansa.  As book readers know this is a massive deviation from the books, so its interesting to see where they might be taking her story, and everyone she's surrounded by (Ramsay, Theon, Roose, Petyr) - keep an eye out for my upcoming post where I explain where I think HBO will be taking her story.

As for episode 8, many people have been predicting the episode title to be "Hardhome".  As for the plot synopsis it definitely seems it will be setting up a big episode 9.  Which would be sticking to the Game of Thrones tradition of having episode 9 be their big battle scene of the season.

Let me know in the comments what you think about the plot synopses for the May episodes, and "Hardhome" being the title for episode 8.
