In season 4 we left off with Bran, Hodor, and Meera reaching their destination and meeting two new characters the Three-Eyed Crow and Leaf.  Now it looks like their adventure may come to a rest, in a recent interview between Kristian Nairn and Monique Schafter, Kristian said something that has shocked us all:

Monique Schafter: Fans around the world are hungry for the next series of Game of Thrones, but they’ll have to be patient.

Kristian Nairn: We’re not actually in Season Five, by the way. We have a season off. We have a year’s hiatus.

Monique Schafter: Really?

Kristian Nairn: Solely because, I imagine, our story line is up to the end of the books. … So I get a year off now to do Rave of Thrones and gallivant all over the world.

Now Krisitan was vague when he said "we're not actually in season five," is he talking about all of Hodor's companions.  If so this would be quite a strange path to take in season 5.  But I'll talk about more about this below the break in the spoiler section.

In recent interview with Isaac Hempstead-Wright, the actor who plays Bran, he has not directly stated that his story line would be left out. But rather almost dodges the question, in terms of directly answering in relation to Bran and company.  This is what Isaac said in his interview with Collider:

Question: Isaac, are you excited for what is coming up on Game of Thrones?

Isaac Hempstead-Wright:  Yeah. There’s certainly some more action stuff, rather than sitting down in various forests, all over Westeros.

Question: When do you start shooting the new season?

Isaac Hempstead-Wright:  They’re actually filming, at the moment.

Now for the spoiler section.  If you haven't read through A Dance with Dragons stop reading here.

So I think there are two paths Game of Thrones could go in season 5, at least with this particular story line.  The first is to simply leave out Hodor and Meera, and focus directly on Bran and the Three-Eyed Crow.  In the books Meera only takes care of Jojen - who is no longer alive in the show - and Hodor explores the depths of the cave.  I think by cutting these two characters from season 5 would be fine.  However it would be nice to see Bran warging into Hodor, and this becoming an easier thing for Bran to do.  But I think in season 4 the viewer started to see that Bran was getting a better grasp on that aspect of his powers.

Now the second path they could take is to completely cut out Bran's story line from the season.  But to completely cut out this story line would be insane.  At the very least need to join back up with Bran and the Three-Eyed Crow, and see Bran develop his skills even if its for a single episode.  Those are things that cannot be left for the viewers to just assume will happen - Because simply enough the casual viewer doesn't have nearly enough information on the powers that Bran has.  And as for Bran's current decline in POV chapters in the books.  That is not the same thing as the show, in the books we see directly through Bran - But in the show they can make Bran do stuff that wouldn't directly give the viewer to much information on the overall story.

It would just blow my mind if they cut Bran from season 5, and then reintroduce him in season 6 to show how much he has learned.  If Game of Thrones was going to do this with any character it should have been Theon after he was captured by Ramsay.  Just like they did in the books, to show a believable transformation from Theon to Reek.  But that's a tangent for another time.

So what do you think?  Will they cut Bran's story line entirely from season 5, or is it just Hodor and Meera who'll be cut.  Let me know your thoughts below.
