With the recent announcement of the new filming location for season 5 of Game of Thrones, preparations are well under way in Kaštel Gomilica. As well, we have several photos released from kastela.org showing us some of the preparations that went on this Friday.
Along with the photos Kastela.org also confirms that the filming will be taking place in early September, but does not mention how long the filming will last. As for unofficial information it appears that filming preparations will last for more than 20 days, and depending on the conditions the actual filming will last another 4 to 5 days.
It also seems that docking permits have been requested for several dozen ships for the filming around the Kastilac area. This would add some credence to my earlier prediction referring to what Kaštel Gomilica will be used to depict in Game of Thrones.
Below are some of the photos of the preparations going on in Kaštel Gomilica, from kastela.org:
One last thing I want to touch on, according to Watchers on the Wall the show is recruiting extras in the Split region for Braavosi sailors, and mention that a few Lannister guards will be needed. I think the part about the Braavosi sailors guarantees that Kastela will be representing Braavos in the show - if it is true that is. Now you may be asking yourself "Lannister guards?" For my opinion on this you'll have to into the spoiler area below., but be warned my theory includes some spoilers from a Winds of Winter sample chapter.
Now for those of you who have read the latest Winds of Winter sample chapter, titled Mercy you probably know where I'm going with this. And if you haven't read the chapter, well, you shouldn't be reading this anyways. Now I know this would be skipping ahead quite a bit in the show, but if we can assume those Lannister-Baratheon banners will be in in Braavos than I think this is the only time a representative of the royal family visits Braavos. I think bringing this story line ahead is something that the show would do, lead us to believe Arya is getting further away from Westeros and the people there, only to arrive into the new land and see the same banners flying. Now I'm not saying everything that happens in the Mercy chapter is going to happen, just the parts pertaining to westerosi envoy being in Braavos. Of course this is only my idea, I could be wrong.
So who do you think the Lannister-Baratheon banners are flying for? Let me know your thoughts down below.
