Yezzan Cast

Finishing up with our posts on the new characters announced in HBO's video Season 5 - New Cast Members. This time we're talking about Yezzan.  The actor who'll be playing Yezzan is Enzo Cilenti, who has previously been in movies such as Next, In the Loop, and The Fourth Kind.

Yezzan gets a very brief description in HBO's press release:

Yezzan was an extremely wealthy slave trader before Daenerys Targaryen outlawed the slave trade.

I'm a bit surprised with the casting decision of Enzo.  Yezzan is described in the books as being so obese that he can no longer stand, and as we can see Enzo Cilenti isn't even a bit overweight.  Since they are deciding to get rid of this physical characteristic of Yezzan I wonder what else will be changed about the character.  Of course I imagine they are simply throwing the weight issue to the side, and will instead include some other health issues to deal with this problem.  I'm also curious to see if things such as his "collection" will be kept for the show.  Overall I would have liked to see an actor cast who better fit the description of Yezzan, that we get in the books.

So with the casting of Yezzan we can get a better idea of how far season 5 will go.  Yezzan is the slave owner who buys Tyrion, Penny, and Jorah and this would seem so extremely far away in the show, that it just doesn't seem right to already get there in the show.  That's why I'm guessing they are going to be including a new story line for Yezzan, prior to purchasing the three.  This is why I believe he has his description, from HBO's press release, heavily tied to Dany's decision to abolish slavery.  As for Tyrion, Penny, and Jorah it's possible they will be bought at the end of the season, but it just seems like there is so much ground to be covered before that happens - If they even decided to include Penny that is.

This casting, this early, is really just a head scratcher.  Because if they do end the season with Yezzan purchasing these three (or two) I feel they would need to either rush through much of Tyrions story line, or simply skip over it entirely.  And unfortunately it wouldn't even surprise me if they ended up doing that.

So what do you make of this?  Do you think they will create a new story line for Yezzan?  Let me know your thoughts below!
