"Hardhome" Viewership Finally Rebounds

The fifth season of Game of Thrones has suffered from a constant loss of viewership since its, record breaking, premiere.  The last episode of Game of Thrones, " The Gift" saw this season at an all time low with 5.4 million viewers on its initial airing.  Making "The Gift" the first episode of Game of Thrones to drop into the 5 million's since 2013.

However with the latest episode, "Hardhome" it looks like the season is finally getting back on track with its numbers.  "Hardhome" was watched, during its initial airing, by 7 million people.  An extremely impressive 30% jump in viewership, from "The Gift".

Now who can say what caused this increase in viewership, but whatever it may be, it's good to see the show getting back on track with its numbers.  I'm sure we'll see a constant increase in viewership over the next 2 episodes.  Possibly seeing another record breaking season finale.

Telltale Released Game of Thrones Episode 4: "Sons of Winter" Trailer

Telltale Games has just released the trailer for the fourth episode in their Game of Thrones series. The fourth episode will be titled "Sons of Winter" and will continue the the journey of the House Forrester characters.

Along with the trailer Telltale has also released the following synopsis:

In Episode 4, the fate of the scattered Forresters hands in the balance, and no one allied with the family is safe.  An unexpected meeting offers Rodrik a new opportunity to free Ironrath from its Whitehall stranglehold, but with young Ryon Forrester still held prisoner his next moves are critical.  Gared must abandon Castle Black and venture beyond the Wall in search of the mysterious North Grove, risking encounters with Wildlings and worse.  In King's Landing, the population is reeling from a recent royal death, and Mira must step careful in an increasingly complex game of politics where secrets are traded as currency.  Far away in Esso, Asher infiltrates the slave city of Meereen at the behest of Daenerys Targaryen, but will the friendship he holds dear break under the strain of a mission that raises memories best forgotten?

From the look of it "Sons of Winter" will be another great episode, in what has been a great series.  Telltale, in my opinion, has done  great job at creating the tension that George R.R. Martin perfectly crafted in the series.

Episode four, "Sons of Winter", will be available on the following dates:

  • May 26 - PC/Mac, Playstation 4 (worldwide), Playstation 3 (SCEA/North America)
  • May 27 - Xbox One, Xbox 360
  • May 28 - iOS and Android-based devices
  • May 29 - PlayStation 3 (SCEE/Europe)

Game of Thrones Betrayals Bracket

HBO is currently running a March Madness type bracket, where they pit some of the biggest betrayals of Game of Thrones history up against one another.  The bracket is just about to finish up with its round three matches for each season.

The bracket includes moments such as: Joffrey beheading Ned, Theon taking Winterfell, the mutiny at Crasters Keep, and many more.  You can cast your votes here.

However, with round three just about over, it looks like the semifinal matches will be:

  • Joffrey Beheads Ned (Season 1) VS. Theon taking Winterfell (Season 2)
  • Roose betrays Rob (Season 3) VS. Shae betrays Tyrion (Seaon 4)

So if these betrayals end up becoming our matches in the semifinals, which ones do you think will end up making it into the finals?  And which betrayal do you think has the best chance of winning the entire tournament?

Telltales' Game of Thrones Episode 3 Trailer

Telltale Games has just released the trailer, and release dates, for the third episode in their Game of Thrones series, titled "The Sword in the Darkness".  The release dates are as followed:

  • March 24 - PC/Mac (Worldwide), PS4 & PS3 (North America/SCEA)
  • March 25 - Xbox One & Xbox 360 (Worldwide), PS4 & PS3 (Europe/SCEE)
  • March 26 - iOS and Android (Worldwide)

So what do you think of the trailer?  Have you played the first two episodes, and if so do  you plan on picking up the third episode?  I know I will be, the first episode was a good starting point, but the second episode exceeded my expectations. I'm hoping the third episode will be even better as the stakes keeping getting raised with House Forrerster.

With just over a month until the premier of season 5 of Game of Thrones we get our first bit of news on the actual episode titles.  Unfortunately its on the titles for the first four episodes of the season, but I'm sure that means it'll just be a bit longer until we get the titles for the other six.

The titles are:

Episode 502: "The House of Black and White"

Episode 503: "High Sparrow"

Episode 504: "The Sons of the Harpy"

HBO Go Now on Playstation 4

Everyone with a PS4 has been patiently waiting for Sony to release the HBO Go app.  Finally that time is here, and just in time for season 5 of Game of Thrones.  The app on the PS4 works just as it did on the PS3.  According to Sony "the app functions just like the PS3 version.  After you authenticate your PS4 with your current cable/satellite service through HBOGO.com/activate, you'll be able to watch every episode of HBO's best shows, including True Detective, Silicon Valley, and Game of Thrones."

The only question this brings up, is where in the development process is HBO with the standalone streaming app.  A while back we got the news that HBO would be taking themselves into it's own standalone realm, so those of us without a cable subscription could get the service.  HBO previously said they would have this service available before season 5, but it is still in the works.
