More Game of Thrones Season 6 Casting News

We have more casting news for the sixth season of Game of Thrones.  This time around we have two official announced castings coming from Deadline.  So without further ado lets get into it!

The first actor is the New Zealand-born actor Joe Naufahu.  Not much information has been given about his character, except for this little piece of information from Deadline stating that Naufahu has "booked a multi-episode arc".

Joe Naufahu has appeared in series such as Spartacus: War of the Damned and Go Girls.

Although there isn't much information about Naufahu's character, we can still speculate as to who he might be playing.  One possibility is that he will be taking on the role of Khal Jhago.  For book readers this is a well known character.  And where last season left off, Jhaqo would definitely fir the description of having a "multi-episode arc".

The second actor is recent Juliard grad Robert Aramayo.  HBO is keeping details about the character under wraps at the moment.

Aramayo will also be appearing in HBO's mini-series Lewis and Clark, and in the upcoming film The Tourist.

So who do you think Naufahu and Aramayo will be playing in the sixth season of Game of Thrones?  Leave your thoughts on these two pieces of casting news in the comments below!

Game of Thrones Theatre Troupe Casting News

The casting for the sixth season of Game of Thrones continues.  This time its for three actors who will be appearing in a traveling theatre company - for those of you who have read the books, I'm sure you can remember the colorful theatre troupe.

The Australian actress Essie Davis has been cast in the role as the theatre troupe's Leading Actress.  In a recent casting breakdown the character was described as "in her early 40's, she's an elegant actress with a traveling theatre company.  Fun, charismatic, rum-drinking actress in the troupe."

Essie Davis recently appeared in The Babadook, where she delivered one the years best performances.  At least in my personal opinion.  Davis has also appeared in The Matrix Revolutions and The Matrix Reloaded.

Next is the British actor Richard E. Grant.  Grant will be taking on the role of the Theatre's Actor/Manager.  The character was described as "the larger-than-life leader of a troupe of actors.  He specializes in portraying drunken aristocrat's.  He is a huge presence on stage and rather nasty to his company when off-stage."  In the casting breakdown it was also stated that the character would appear in three episodes.

Richard E. Grant has appeared in movies such as Bram Stoker's Darcula, Henry & June, The Iron Lady.  As well as shows such as Dig, Downton Abbey, and Doctor Who.

Finally we have English actor and comedian Kevin Eldon who will be taking on the role of the Theatre's Leading Actor.  The character has been described as "using a pronounced Northern accent" and as a "flamboyant caricaturist".  As well as Grant, Eldon is stated to be appearing in three episodes.

Kevin Eldon has appeared in movies such as Hot Fuzz, Four Lions, and Set Fire to the Stars.  As well as countless television series, such as the BBC comedy series It's Kevin.

Freddie Stroma Cast as Dickon Tarly

The casting news continues for the sixth season of Game of Thrones, according to Entertainment Weekly Freddie Storma has been cast to play Dickon Tarly - Samwell Tarly's younger brother.  Freddie Storma has previously appeared in movies such as Pitch Perfect 2, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and in the TV series UnReal.

For those of you who have been following the casting news for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, the character of Dickon Tarly being cast should come as no surprise.  In an earlier casting list, a character listed only as "Brother"  was described as "in his early to mid-20's.  Athletic, a good hunter, an excellent swordsman, manly, not particularly bright but the favorite child of the father," which matches with what we know about the character of Dickon Tarly (except for the shows Dickon being slightly aged up).

Along with the Brother, we also had a Father, Mother, and a Sister all included on the casting sheet.  Presumably making up the known Tarly family (from the books that is).  I assume we will be hearing about Randyll Tarly and the rest of the Tarly family being cast.

Euron Greyjoy Officially Cast for Game of Thrones

I was starting to think I'd never be able to say these words, Euron Greyjoy has officially been cast for the sixth season of Game of Thrones.  Not rumors, not speculations, but officially confirmed from HBO themselves.

The actor taking on the fan-favorite character of Euron Greyjoy will be Pilou Asbæk.  Asbæk  has previously appeared on screen in the Danish series Borgen, alongside fellow Game of Thrones actress Birgitte Hjort Sørensen.  Asbæk will also be appearing in the 2016 remake of Ben-Hur, where he will be playing Pontius Pilate.

I can't even begin to describe my excitement with this piece of casting news.  I just hope Game of Thrones accurately depicts the Euron Greyjoy I know from the books.  But, what do you think about this piece of news?  Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Game of Thrones Season 6 New Casting Roundup

The casting continues for the sixth season of Game of Thrones.   This time we have three minor roles for the upcoming season.  So without further ado lets get into the casting news.

First on the table is English actor Eddie Eyre who has been cast to play Ser Alfred Hunrith.  Now for all you book readers out there who are scratching your heads at that name, don't worry you didn't forget a character.  The character of Ser Alfred Hunrith has not been mentioned in the books so far.

Second on the list is British actress Souad Faress.  Her role in the upcoming season has not been announced yet.  But according to her agency she will be filming her role in October.

Next we have Icelandic actor Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson.  Once again his character has not been announced yet, but we know he will be appearing in two episodes this season.  There might be a chance we will see Jóhannesson appear as an outlaw character, since all of the outlaw roles are two-episode characters - as noted in the casting call.

And lastly, Northern Irish actor Andrew Bryan has been cast to play a Bolton Officer in the sixth season.  According to his agency website he has already been filming his role, and is scheduled to finish shooting August 19th.

So what do you think about these minor castings?  Leave your thoughts and speculation on the roles, in the comments below.

Has Young Ned Been Cast?

It looks like season 6 of Game of Thrones will have some flashbacks.  According to sources, Sebastian Croft has just been cast as a young Ned Stark for the sixth season.

Ever since the casting list came out for season 6 - which listed a young boy with a "northern accent"  - fans have been speculating we might finally see a Ned Stark flashback scene.

The casting list included the following character titles and description:

  • Boy Aged 12 - "Brown hair and blue eyes. This is a great part for a 12 year old boy. We need a Northern accent, very grounded and physical and who you can instantly see has great heart and soul. He has scenes where he has to spar with a wooden sword so physical skills are important. A very good and memorable new part being introduced in this season."
  • Boy Aged 7 - "Aged 7 with dark brown hair, a narrow face and striking green eyes. Northern accent required. Athletic and charismatic. He has scenes where he has to spar with a wooden sword so physical skills are important.  A good new part for a sparky and talented young boy being introduced this season."
  • Large Boy - "Aged 10-12 but plays as younger – a clever boy who seems too large for his character’s age of 7-8 years old. An unusually big young boy – not fat – but remarkably tall and physically powerful for his age. We need characterful squat features.  This is a terrific part in this new season. It’s a complicated part with great acting demands. A one-off acting opportunity for a very smart and talented boy of an unusual physical type."

The question is still up which young boy Sebastian Croft will be taking the role of - my bets on the Boy Aged 12.  It also brings up the question which other characters we will see in the flashback.  Given the description in the casting list, I'd say the Large Boy will be either Robert or Brandon.  And the Boy Aged 7 could possibly be Benjen.

But what do you think about seeing a flashback scene with a young Ned Stark, in the sixth season of Game of Thrones.  And who do you think the other boys will be?  Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Walder Frey Returning to Game of Thrones

In a recent interview with Zap2It, actor David Bradley confirmed that his character, Walder Frey, would be returning to Game of Thrones.  Although he couldn't confirm whether or not it would be in season 6 or not.

David Bradley told Zap2It:

He will be coming back, but I can't say when, I can't really say because things are in a delicate situation.  I do look forward to it, because I do love playing someone so irredeemable.  I'm afraid he makes me laugh because he's so appalling to there's a kind of dark humor in there somewhere.

Max von Sydow Cast for Season 6

Once again Entertainment Weekly broke the news on another piece of Game of Thrones casting.  Reportedly, the legendary actor Max von Sydow will be joining the cast of Game of Thrones in the upcoming sixth season.  Sydow is known for his incredible work on movies such as The Exorcist, Minority Report, and Shutter Island - Sydow has also been cast in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Surprisingly though, Sydow has been cast in a recast role.  Sydow will be taking over the reigns of the Three-Eyed Raven.  The role was previously played by Struan Rodger, during the season 4 finale.

In the article, Entertainment Weekly adds that Sydow is not expected to have a lot of screen time, however the role will be crucial.  With all that said I can't wait to see this amazing actor on the screen, even if its only for a few scenes.
